On July 13, 2010 10am -11am (EST) Michelle Obama will speak with AOL Health on her “Lets Move” Campaign.

Together we all can take a stand to help reduce America’s child obesity!

Fitness is very essential to the health of students. However, if schools are taking budget cuts, and the fitness programs are one of the first to go, it’s very important that we maintain an active lifestyle at home.

1) Wake up an extra hour early, 4-5 days a week and go for a moderate run. Make it family time, and invite your parents along. If you’re not a morning person, after dinner gather the family and take a run around the neighborhood or nearby park.Or

2) After dinner, gather the family and head to the backyard to play a game of softball. This will allow you to spend family time, work out, and have fun.

It’s a lot cheaper to spend money on junk and fatty foods vs. organic foods. However organic foods are not the only foods that provide a healthy way of living.   Foods such as bananas, fruits, whole grain breads and cereals and fresh vegetables are just as healthy as organic, and very cost effective.

3) The next time your parents are at the grocery store, ask them to pick up fruits, yogurt, bananas and fig cookies. Even better, go along with your parents to the grocery store and choose foods that are healthy for the entire family. Make healthy eating a lifestyle not a temporary diet. It’s important to eat healthy meals each day, but certain schools may not provide this lifestyle. Help your parents prepare a healthy school lunch, and be creative!

4) Prepare a healthy creative lunch!

- Chicken with pasta & a lemon slice to squeeze over the pasta

- Healthy wraps using whole wheat, tomatoes, or spinach wraps
- Fruit parfaits such as grapes, sliced bananas, granola and yogurt (using a reusable plastic container)

- Edamame

- Sliced Tomatoes

- Trail Mix

- Veggies and Dip

- Rice Cakes with Peanut Better

- 2 Oatmeal Cookies

- Skim Milk or Fruit Drink

Lets take a stand and ALL assist in becoming a healthier nation!

Challenging Challenges

No matter what challenge we face, it’s our ability to adapt to get us through it.

Life has a way of throwing us curve balls. We have the ability to shift whether it’s one step or two in order to hit that home run. Challenges help us grow. Without challenges we never push ourselves to that next level. Sometimes the greatest challenges are the biggest rewards.

Develop Your Character

In life we must define who we are, and most importantly what we want. Experiences both positive and negative that are embarked upon in life’s journey will mold and shape us to becoming the individuals we choose to become, however, it is up to each individual to decide which experiences will have the opportunity to endure the journey alongside us and which will be left at the posterior of the road.

The Power of Positive Thinking

You are the luckiest person on earth. No, really… you are.

Imagine how our day would start if this one simple saying was spoken each and every morning, “I am the luckiest person on earth”. A new self recognition would come over us. We would be aware of absolutely everything, everywhere. Our minds would be illuminated with a quantum understanding that would be expressed in our actions, words and deeds.
